Coaches are not only tasked with winning championships, but with instilling morals into their players. On this episode I am joined by Strathmore head coach Jeromy Blackwell, who was just named one of the CIFs 2017-2018 Model Coach of the Year, and Paul Myers.
The three of us talk about how the styles of coaching differ from one staff to another. How the team aspect may be going away from high school sports. Coach Blackwell also tells us about the lessons given to him by his coaches, including Mark Rogers, former head coach at College of the Sequoias, and former Fresno State head coach Pat Hill.
We talk about the status of football as well. With soccer on the rise we get coach Blackwell’s opinion as to whether the sport is a threat to supplanting football as the nations favorite sport. The three of us also bring up the concussion issue and discuss how the sport is taking precautions on safety.
All that and much on this week’s episode of The Sportspeak Podcast.
